Christ Church School
On Tuesday 28th January 2020, Christ Church C of E School will begin a public consultation on proposals to close the school in August 2021.
The school has 56 places but only 22 pupils are currently on roll. This is forecast to drop to 20 pupils by 2022/23, only 36% full. Only one pupil joined reception in each of the last two years, September 2018 & 2019 and the school has only received one first-preference application to join reception in September 2020.
The two closest schools to Christ Church are Chalford Hill, which is half a mile away, and Bussage C of E Primary, 1.5 miles away, both which have spaces to take Christ Church’s pupils should it close.
Christ Church is a voluntary school and will be running its own consultation from Tuesday 28th January to Friday 6th March, and holding a public drop in event on Thursday 13th February 5pm-6pm (full details confirmed in the consultation paper).
All the responses to the consultation will be put into a report for the governing body. If the governing body decides the best option is to close the school, they will publish a statutory notice in March 2020. There will then be a further four weeks for people to respond to the proposal before the final decision is made by the cabinet member for education, Cllr Patrick Molyneux in the Summer term 2020.
